The quality of light
19 Feb 2008 11:05 amThe weather remains fine, cold, clear and sunny and produces The. Most. Amazing. sunsets I have seen in some years. My camera simply cannot do justice to the colours, or maybe it's my lack of photography skillz. ;) As the sun pulled away from the shore and the boat sank slowly in the west made her stately way below my visible horizon last evening, I was transfixed by the gorgeous display. A single graduated wash of colour from deepest blue that put me in mind of velvet, through all the blues to a trace of lime before the rosy glow took over. Mouôn Doue, for a handpainted length of fabric that captured that...
The colours deepened and intensified over the passing minutes. At one point the sky was the colour of fine cognac. The final glory was a wide band of blood red low on the horizon while all above blushed deep rose--it was like the sky was on fire.
Utterly glorious. Spiritual. Awe-full, the beauty induced a state of excitement and calm for which words do not exist.
