Did you miss me? ;)

Does someone fancy telling the weather that it is actually June and not octobre? I got up to thick, grey drizzle this morning, and it has been cold, grey and wet since wednesday. Yesterday was the solctice, démîn, valet! The garden is lovely and green but come on... I need some sun to ripen my strawberries!

Yesterday was Father's day and I intended to knock out some drabbles on that theme. The Muse had other ideas. She took my quill away and handed me needle and thread so I shall have quilty things completed soon, which will be cool. : )

I'm sure there was something else... *thinks*

My roses are starting to flower. I love this rose--there are several in the garden.

Aren't they lovely? Such a perfect shape. But wait--

Guess where I've been? Wharfedale! And I don't mean t'stereo speakers!

What a fabulous day! It's definitely in my top 5 places to revisit, and soon. Given that Bolton Abbey nearby was madness, Parcevall remained a hidden gem. There were others there but there was enough land to roam that we all had our share of peace and solitude. Picspam forthcoming when I've sorted through the 107 photos I took.

*happy sigh*

Bank holiday + pleasant sunny weather + trip to large garden centre = not your best decision ever. Do not repeat.

I have never seen the place so busy--not even near xmas! I came away with a planter for my myrtle since it has outgrown its current home, bags of planting medium, a little cherry tomato plant, var black cherry, and a book containing 450 cookie recipes. I made one as soon as I returned seiz-me, just to try it out you understand... Raisin and pecan flapjack. It appealed because it contained maple syrup. The result, you ask, or not, as interests you? A tad sweet for my palate and not as chewy as I'd anticipated. However, I shall soon have a new oven to field test (and yes, I'm counting the days despite the mess and upheaval having my new kitchen installed will cause!) and so I imagine some adjustment will be made to the recipe until I strike the right balance.

There's been so much Stuff seiz-me recently that stitching progress has been slow. However, here I have the third block of my current handpiecing project, or almost. Next I sew the joined squares in place and then Y seam the corners in.

My potted freesia dutifully reappeared (Yay!) and I brought them into the sitting room yesterday the better to enjoy the divine fragrance as the flowers open. On the 'nature' theme, a bee bumbled past me on Tuesday whilst I was pegging out sheets, and I saw my first ladybird of the year nestled under the head of one of my windflowers. By the time I returned with the camera, s/he was not to be found! Camera shy, clearly. ;)

WORRY!WORRY!WORRY!

Mothers live in perpetual terror - of fire and flood and lonely roads, of evil men and lunatic drivers, of failing brakes and train derailments and aircraft hitting trees. They only let it show about three o'clock in the morning.

Mothers don't really have premonitions. They have been over every possible eventuality so often - both good and ill - that whatever happens to you, they've rehearsed it.

Hulking great muscle bound heros whose mothers have access to their baggage will find extra socks, vitamin c capsules, snipped out articles on the care of the feet and packes of dental floss tucked in among the pitons and ice axes.

Mothers are inclined to worry. All the time. Thanks, for not letting it show too much.

It's all very well saying, "Mum, don't fuss" - but it is she who discovers you haven't packed your documents.
~Pam Brown

Only when I became a mother did I gain a graphic insight into my own. You can't explain it, motherhood; it has to be felt.

First blossoms on a tree close to my abode. Not sure, but I think it might be another almond. I say that b/c think it's a bit early for cherry blossom but I could be wrong.

I went for a walk through Witch woods. My camera needed the exercise. ;) Unlike this time last year, spring colour is later. All the arctic winds we've been having, I suspect. I did find clumps of snowdrops and they were different varieties.

Happy Christmas, merry Yule, happy Hannukah. Whichever you celebrate, I wish everyone who sees this post, even if by happenstance, all the best.

And that's me. Until next time, sogni d'oro.

My best photo of last night's trifecta of the moon, Venus and Mars. Taken 18:49 between the clouds that threatened to deny me sight of the phenomenon!

Which I *think* means 'Oo! Shiny!' lol I has been playing with iconses ready for winter (which has certainly arrived in my part of the island! Brr! *shivers*) I has made new header and some new iconses and toyed with changing the colours of the background. *iz pretteh* :)

There are only two plants flowering in my garden this cold and drizzly May day so here are photos I took earlier.

This next one shows the wallhanging I'm currently free motion quilting before it was pieced into a top and layered up. The fabrics are 'Poetry' by April Cornell for Moda and two-thirds of the blocks for this are at least a year old. Maybe 2, I can't be sure. Anyway. The lemon/yellow doesn't show up very well.
