There is not a single tile left in my kitchen. My garage is full of new kitchen--and I mean full = crammed. It smells gorgeous but then wood does. :D Tomorrow I have the fun of emptying all the cupboards and creating a makeshift kitchen in my dining room. Hopefully, I'll also manage to get out in the sun for a couple of hours too. Today was a gorgeous spring day; blue sky, sun, light breeze, plaster dust--only kidding! lol
I heard from the recipient of the horsey wallhanging commish and she was thrilled. Bless. :)

15 Apr 2009 05:52 pmfeathers and bits; a beak torn off in two halves, and pieces from which I avert my gaze, sickened. Man tchoeu chuckled at my tenderheartedness ('He has to eat!' he said of the hawk/raptor crouched over its prey, 'yes--but why on my lawn! was my plaintive reply) but he put gloves on and cleared away the remnants of the sky-snatch.

Tv watching
31 Mar 2009 08:30 amLast night, I watched a repeat of the first episode in a series new to the UK called The Mentalist'. In case you're not familiar with the series. I'd caught the trailers and been very intrigued. Now I'm not much of a tv watcher, I prefer to do other things, and yet this held my attention and made me laugh out loud a few times. I shall be interested to see how the storylines and characters develop.
Yes indeed.
Yes indeed.
A bitty day, this. Several projects advanced: the commission is almost finished--burying thread ends/label/hanging sleeve; Tri2 tied in prep for quilting, Tri1 about to join it; silk habotai painted requisite colours for Drifting:spring, Drifting:summer; 95" of quarter inch continuous bias made for vining applique on small chinese coin mat. A complimentary 95" yet required.
Dividable cake tin assembled in preparation for tomorrow's making/baking of several 4" Simnel cakes.
It doesn't feel like I achieved much at all, and yet it's my first time making continuous bias for applique (an amusing interlude requiring lots of patience, steam, the use of an unpicker and words not normally heard in polite conversation.) so maybe I'm expecting too much. Tch'est qui sait?

Livejournal
6 Feb 2009 09:14 amThe etheric land of eljay hits double digits in April, or so it said in the news comm. Wow. Have I really been here for six of those years? Doodie!
I signed up for a basic account (you could do that back then!) on 12th October 2004. Yeah, yeah, I know what it says on the profile page --which I still think *fails* and bring-back-the-old-one-NOW-- but there have been a few name changes between then and now. I'm not getting into the whys and wherefors --that's not the point of the post-- this is more about why I'm still here.
So why am I still here? Why don't I post regularly in one of my other blogs: Blogger, Wordpress, IJ, Deviantart? There are more blogs that I follow on those other sites than there are on LJ. It would make complete sense for me to migrate and stay there, so why haven't I?
An excellent question.
An easy answer: familiarity. I started here. I know my way around here now. I've been here so long that it's intuitive. The other sites aren't. At least, not to me. And that is why I'm still here. Simples! as the meercat says. ;)

Film trailers
21 Jan 2009 08:34 amSo I've just allowed the trailer for HP6 to pass before my eyes. Hmm. From the little I've seen, they've played fast and loose again. 'Very loosely based on the book by JKR' is my persoanl feeling. I can't find that I'm keen to see it.
I'm now away to hunt up a trailer for Underworld: The Rise of the Lycans. Now there was a film that had proper werewolves, not a poor thing that looked like a bald chihuaua.

Ô! Brilyons!
3 Dec 2008 09:03 amHere's a cute (fluffeh bunnehs!), seasonal (bells!), addictive and nicely tricky on-line time-waster little game. Let me know your high score and I'll tell you if you beat me! :)
Winter bells.

6 Jul 2008 11:13 am~~Celebrate National Kissing Day today. Kiss your significant other, your kidlets, big kidlets, your dog, your cat, your dragon, your favourite book character, whatever.
~~books read lately: 'A Year in the Merde' Stephen Clarke. Damn funny.
'Eye of the Needle' Ken Follett. Not really my cup of tea but I'm trying to read styles I wouldn't normally.
'High Infatuation' Steph Davis. Unputdownable.
~~I recall the heady days when Dr Who had proper writers. Last night's season finale was arse-clenchingly mawkish fantasy that had me squirming. I'm hoping for great improvements in 2010 from the new team; no soap opera-in-space, s'i'vouos pliaît. I'm aware I'm in the minority with this view but I couldn't care less.

I just got back from seeing Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.
I laughed a great deal, saw plenty of 'plot twists' coming, picked up references to many other films in it and thought it was a very fun way to pass two hours and five minutes. 'Specially when it's coming down stair rods outside.
À la préchaine.

A rare tv related post
5 Jan 2008 11:15 pm'Timewatch' was back tonight. It was about sailing the archeologically accurate reconstruction of a 30m longship 'Sea Stallion' from Roskilde across the North sea to Dublin by way of the Hebrides. A journey of a thousand miles.
In a 90 minute programme we got about 3 seconds on how it was built. I'd already found the website for this voyage previously so little was new to me. I'd rather have had a film on how the original ship was excavated and the replica built in Roskilde but that's just me.

2 Jan 2008 11:16 amOr, sick as a dog.
Only not the dog of the icon, which is the Black Dog of Bouley Bay aka The Grim. :)
It's a recurrent problem that rears its head under certain conditions and it knocked me sideways from early yesterday. I tried some EFT and that helped but not enough that I avoided seeking relief in allopathic pathways. Today I have much lassitude and the feeling that someone shoved a brick under my ribs when I wasn't looking.
I'm going to snuggle under my blankie and sip pomegranate juice. And I had a lovely post ready for yesterday only LJ wouldn't display it properly and didn't retain my edits so I deleted it in a huff, which is a small three-wheeled vehicle.

My book on circular knitting has arrived and looks promising. I've been watching The X Men on Youtube. Some of the dialogue is so cheesy you could spread it on oatcakes and eat it but it's surprisingly addictive.
Also found the first five minutes of another comic book creation converted to screen: Constantine. 'Hell wants him. Heaven won't take him. Earth needs him.' Nic is impressed. ;-)
And now, back to the housework.
