2 May 2009 07:56 pmTrying to think of a clever header, I wondered what expression we'll use for 'busy as a ' if we lose more bees, or, heaven forfend, all Apis mellifera? I did say it was random. Warned you were. ;)
Today there was a trek up-country as a new outdoor walking jacket was required. One road takes you past a glass blowing studio and to advertise their brilliance, there are glass sculptures in the adjacent field. One was of huge 'balloons' on the end of metal stems fixed into a bunch and anchored to the ground. From the road, I have no idea how large they would be (and the hedge prevented me from taking a photo, the rascal) but they looked sizeable.
The other one was, well, see for yourself.

Other than buying my new jacket (mens, bright blue/black) I've been putting my spiffy new oven through its paces; proved and baked parmesan and sundried tomato buns; baked apples stuffed with pecans, raisins, a little muscovado sugar and cider; loin of pork stuffed with black pudding and ginger; apricot, maple syrup and oat flapjacks, and coriander and lime fajitas.
If indications are anything to go by (hopeful sniffing, enquiries as to if it's cool enough to try yet, and general wheedling of the cook ;) *laughs*) all is going well. I'm certainly having fun in the kitchen again with a reliable oven. Recipe spammage is a possibility! :)
