Made the second lot of continuous bias yesterday. It worked out at almost 100" in the end. Then, my 100 gauge silk threads arrived, so I could get on with pinning it to the quiltlet today and maybe even get some stitched down! This little project has been loafing for a few months now, mostly b/c I was a bit nervous of making the continuous bias. I've always avoided applique in the past (I'm impatient and it looks too slow) but I do enjoy all those gorgeous appliqued quilts, and, if I have the patience to hand piece curves and Y seams then surely I can spare a bit for my first applique? So runs my logic, anyway. : )

The painted silk habotai didn't work as well as I'd imagined/anticipated; too transparent. I mean to repeat the exercise with the heavier weight silk/cotton. I would prefer some silk satin but can't find any in an undyed state. Ah ça.

My commission is finished! I'm about to email for a shipping addy and hope it brightens up so the recording photos will be the best I can take. *crosses fingers* À bi!
