Of quilts and quilting

For some months, I've had a simple pieced bed quilt folded up on the back of the spare sofa; the only place it would remain safe and relatively flat.I'd even pieced yardage to make a backing for it with the intention of sending it away to be longarm quilted since there is absolutely no way on this earth, or off it, that I am attempting to free motion quilt it. Hand quilting it is out; it took a year to quilt AVF and it's smaller than 'Dandelion Girl'.
Even though I found a lovely longarm quilter, who has won prizes for her work, and asks a fair price for her time and effort, I had a dose of the wibbles about phoning to speak to her. Don't ask me why, I can't tell you, it's just the way I am. Anyway, last week, I screwed my nerve to the sticking point (Thanks, Will) and called. I got the answerphone and left a message. Later in the day, the quilter rang me back. She must have thought I was a mad woman. I kept losing the thread of what I was saying. Feel free to imagine a wry eyeroll here. : )
The agreement was that I would send her my quilt, she would have a look and ring me back to discuss patterns and threads. That conversation has just taken place. : ) I was saner today, partly because I wasn't expecting anyone to call, and partly because I've got a 'touch of the Guernseys', as Marcus would say, and I'm feeling a little wiped out. (Even though I don't know what my gall bladder is trying to tell me, tap, tap, tap... *g*)
She reckons it will be about a week to ten days. I'm not in a hurry but oh my, it will be fun to have another completed quilt!
On another theme, I had someone leave me a lovely comment about a fic I wrote waaaay back, 'Nice Day for a White Wedding'. I don't know her from Eve but it did brighten my day and give me a big grin. She's scared she's going to find I've deleted the journal each time she comes back to re-read, she tells me. LOL! Nope, but it was a useful reminder to archive that fic over here at Dreamwidth, along with my other marauder stuff. Then I started to wonder how she found the fic in the first place...?
